"We had an excellent experience with Robby Friedman in the creation of our beautiful and elegant home. My wife and I purchased a historic home in the center of San Miguel de Allende. The first four rooms of the house were colonial with high ceilings, thick walls, little natural light and minimal airflow. The back two thirds of the house, which was probably constructed in the 1940s, was poorly configured and the walls had large cracks in them. That part of the house had to be taken down. Robby had a major redo on his hands. In our initial conversations with Robby, we said that we wanted to maintain a sense of the colonial charm of the house, but with light, air and a sense of openness. He listened and retained the old floors, walls and beams when he could while sculpting beautifully arched doorways between rooms and opening to the outdoor spaces. He built us a second floor master bedroom with porches and two ground floor guest rooms radiating back towards the dipping pool we had requested. The new construction and the original rooms of the house fit together seamlessly. We had a open dialogue with Robby during the design and construction of the house. Robby welcomed our input and ideas and worked hard to build the home that we desired and to build it within our budget. We met weekly when we were in town and reviewed the progress of the construction and any issues in a logical and practical manner. We found him to be very creative in solving the problems that arose in the construction process. Robby gave us, as first time home builders/remodelers, the feeling of confidence that all was heading in the right direction! It was a great experience to work with him and we have recommended Robby to our friends who have considered building or remodeling homes in San Miguel."
